I Ching vs astrology apps
If you have used a daily-ritual app, you know the pleasure: one drop of meaning a day, written in a voice that feels like it knows you. That is a genuinely good product. Here is where the I Ching differs.
| I Ching · YUBAO | The other one | |
|---|---|---|
| The habit | You bring a question when something is on your mind. | A push at the same time every day, whether or not anything is on your mind. |
| Where meaning comes from | One of 64 situations, plus a changing line: short, old, and deliberately plain. | Your chart crossed with today's sky — endless, personalised, and always fresh. |
| Why the friendship/relationship angle | You ask about a person and get back a situation, not a profile. | Compatibility screens: two people, compared in one glance. |
| The vocabulary | Small: yin, yang, lines, change. Nothing to memorise before it is useful. | Large: signs, houses, aspects, transits. Rich, but it is a language to learn. |
| What it never does | No scores, no streaks, no forecast of events. | Often gives you a number or a rank — enjoyable, and easy to over-read. |
Where the other one is genuinely better
- For a beautiful daily notification habit, the big apps are better than us and we say so.
- Their art direction is world-class; our pages are deliberately plain.
- If you want to compare yourself with a partner in one screen, an app does that; we do not.
So which one?
Use an astrology app for the daily ritual and the long arc of your chart. Use the I Ching when you have an actual question and want an answer that will not flatter you.

Is YUBAO an app?
It is a website you can install to your home screen. No account, no push notifications, nothing to sign up for.
Can I use both?
Yes — most people do. The apps run in the background; the I Ching is for the day you need to decide something.
